Hey can someone please help me out with these 2 questions? It would be appreciated, And show work as well if you can. Also for each question can you describe what the force diagram would look like.
1. An athlete throws the shotput with an intial velocity of 14 m/s at a 40 degree angle from the horizontal. The shotput leaves his hand at a height of 2.2 meters above the ground.
a. What are the x and y components of initial velocity.
b. How long is the shotput in air?
c. What is the distance the shotput traveled?
2. A child throws his yoyo horizontally about his head rather than using it properly. Ignore effect of gravity. The yoyo has a mass of 0.200 kg and is attached to a string 0.800 meters long.
a. If the yoyo makes a complete revolution each second, what tension must exist in the string?
b. If the tension in the string is doubled, what is the speed of the yoyo?

1a) x-component: 14cos40 y-component: 14sin40, which we get from a right-hand triangle, where the 14m/s is the hypotenuse.
1b) s = ut - 0.5gt^2, s= 2.2m, u = 14sin40 g = 10 (or 9.8), solve the quadratic equation.
1c) You have the time from 1b), and v=s/t => s = vt
v = 14cos40 t from 1b).
2a) F = mv^2/r v=s/t so F = m(s/t)^2/r where:
m = 0.2 s = 2pi*r t = 1 r = 0.8
2b) Take the new force 2F:
2F = mv^2/r => v = sqrt(2F.r./m) where:
F is from 2a) r = 0.8 m = 0.2
